Tanh Kanyavimonh was born in the village of Yangsa in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand to Phaeng and Boun Kanyavimonh. Tanh had three brothers and three sisters, and he was the fourth of the seven children.

In his teenage years, Tanh packed his things and traveled to Laos in search of a successful career and a better life. Although Thailand was just next door, Laos was a seemingly foreign and unfamiliar place, but Tanh was determined to follow his dreams and made the journey to his new home.

Tanh and his wife began to work tirelessly to bring his family to the United States, he wanted more than anything to give his family the best life possible.
