Irene Lewellin

Inez “Irene” Lewellin was born January 23, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Inas (Lint) Yaw. She was one of 18 children. She passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at the age of 76.
Irene was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She was married to Fred Lewellin who preceded her in death. Irene worked primarily as a waitress for Y-Not Grill and managed an apartment complex for several years prior to her retirement in 1991.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, William McGregor, Arizona McGregor, Georgia Ackerly, Scott (Kathy) McGregor, and Doreen (Tom) Maylone; step-children, Vicky (Steve) Pratt, Becky (Danny) Rinehart, Terry (Lisa) Lewellin, and Balenda Gomez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Inas Yaw; husband of 20 years, Fred Lewellin; and step-son, Jerry.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Avon Cemetery in Des Moines.
In remembrance of Irene, memorials may be made to the family.

Mom, I miss you dearly all ready. I know you will always be in my heart and looking down on me and helping me make the right decisions. Until I see you again some day. Rest In Peace and dont be to hard on Fred and Poppy. Know you will never be forgotten. Love you now and forever.

I miss you so much grandma! Youre the best grandma anyone could ask for. You wont physically be at my graduation, but I know that you will be there spiritually cheering me on. Youve never missed any eventful thing in my life, and I know you wont miss this one, imma make you proud grandma. I love you oh so much, Rest in paradise, from now on always.
