Donald F. Walsmith

Donald Walsmith Sr. died January 5, 2009 at The Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 12 PM Friday, January 9th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Donald was born March 27, 1921 to Anna and Clarence Walsmith in Des Moines. He enlisted in the Army after high school and was a lab technician who was stationed all over the world. He received many service metals and a was a proud veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; children, Don (Beverly) Walsmith Jr.; Barbara (Kurt) Hoover, Kathy (Jerry) Rank; grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Walsmith, Ben Walsmith, Frankie Cownie, Jr., Suzanne Cownie; great grandchildren, Mitchell and Roan Walsmith.
