Ralph Pilger

Ralph L. Pilger, 91, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2009 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. S.W. with burial at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ralph was born February 2, 1917 in Mendota, IL to Ralph T. and Nellie Pilger. He worked for Rock Island Railroad for 37 years and then worked in the Railroad Division of the Iowa Interstate Commerce Commission for six years. Ralph loved horses, farming and being outdoors.
Ralph is survived by his children, Ralph (Jolyn) Pilger, Jr. and Sandra Pilger; sister, Ruth Kinnamon; and his brother, Robert Pilger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen; and sisters, Ruby Hauber and Lois Deacon.
