Rodney Smith, 44, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Rod was born on July 18, 1964 in Wabash, IN.
He was employed by American Radiator in Des Moines as a radiator technician. Rod enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping.
Rod is survived by his son, Matthew Smith; his parents, Ron and Diane Christenson; his brothers Rick (Jamie) Howard, Steve Smith and Mark (Cindy) Smith; his step sister, Cherie (Dave) Dreier and step bother, Derek (Courtney) Christensen.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery. A visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Iowa Heart Association in loving memory of Rod.

Dear Diane,
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family, our children are suppose to outlive us. I know we have all been estranged as a family, but we still care. Your grandson, Matthew is going to need a lot of nurturing through this, and I know you have had a big responsibility.
