Service Details

Lorraine Cross, 84, passed away Thursday morning December 25, 2008 at Mercy Hospice Johnston. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday December 29, 2008 at Saylorville Baptist Church, 6429 NW 6 Drive, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Lorraine was born July 3, 1924 to Dale and Ethel Banning in Des Moines, who farmed in the Saylorville area. She graduated from Woodside High School and attended one year at Drake University. During WWII, she served as a secretary in the Governor’s office with the State Highway Patrol.
Following her marriage in March 1946, she was active as a homemaker and served in church activities, and enjoyed china painting and sewing.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur F. Cross; children, Randall and his wife Janet Cross of Lee’s Summit, MO; Hal and his wife Nancy Cross of Clarks Summit, PA; grandchildren, Mark (Rebekah) Cross of Livonia, MI; Andrew Cross, Rachel (Ron) Hayes, Elisabeth Cross of Clarks Summit, PA; Allison Wangler and Matthew Cross of Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren, Steven Cross of Livonia, MI; Caleb Wangler and Maddalyn Cross of Kansas City, MO; brother Gerald (Mary Beth) Banning of Berwick; sister Barbara (Rhys) Reese of Des Moines; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday December 28, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.
Memorial contributions may be given to Saylorville Baptist Church.
