Harold O. Ceaser, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Taylor House. Funeral service will be at 1pm Thursday, January 11 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery.
Harold was born January 12, 1920 in Gilman, Iowa, the son of Sam and Margaret (Owen) Ceaser. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Harold was proud to be a 60 year member of the Masons as well as the American Legion. He was currently a member of King David Masonic Lodge #407, Home Lodge, other Masonic Lodges, and was a Shriner. He was also a member of Highland Park American Legion Post #374, Boline-Manfredi VFW Post #9662 and the Altoona United Methodist Church. He enjoyed growing rose bushes and tending to his apple orchard.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine of Altoona; his children, Hugh (Vickie) Ceaser of Urbandale, Carol (Dan) Thompson of Pine Hill, New Mexico, Robert Ceaser of Denver, Colorado and Mark Ceaser of Altoona; 4 grandsons, Paul (Marisa) Ceaser, Scott Ceaser, David Thompson and Ben (Hayley) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his brother, S.J. Ceaser and his sister, Dorothy Reimer.
The family will greet friends from 4-7pm Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic Ceremony will be held at 6pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or Altoona United Methodist Church in loving memory of Harold. Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home is handling services.
