Jess Embry

Jess Embry passed away at home on March 14th with his family by his side. He was 96.
Jess was born August 12, 1922 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Dovie and William Embry. He married Maxine Black on August 8, 1945.
Jess served in the Navy and worked for John Deere and Elevator Contractors. He was a member of Marquisville United Methodist Church.
Jess enjoyed fishing and hunting, particularly mushroom hunting, and gardening. He was also a Shriner.
He is survived by his children, Tom (Sue) Embry, Jim Embry, Linda (Wayne) Henning, and Teri Embry. Jess is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Jess was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery following services.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and staff at Wesley Life Home Care. They are angels on earth.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Jess and his family from my younger years. He was friends with my dad and he used to come to our farm and go hunting and fishing. He was a great man.
