Nouchanh (Liu) Visonnavong

Ms. Nouchanh (Liu) Visonnavong, 90, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on April 8, 1928, in Laos as daughter of Phu Chai and Soon Liu.

Nouchanh immigrated to the United States in 1980 after leaving a refugee camp in Thailand. A hardworking and loving mother, Nouchanh raised her 8 children and was proud to offer them an education that led to their success in life. She continued the same role for her grandchildren.

Nouchanh is survived by her children, Katherine Lai of Grinnell, Lisa Liu, Michelle Visonnavong, Sai Visonnavong, Bryan Liu, David (FA) Liu, Lee Liu, and Samantha Liu all of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Say Que of France and Sone Chai of Des Moines.

She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Francis Lai, Ken Visonnavong, and Lair Thongdam; and her daughters-in-law, Kieu Liu and Keck Liu.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
