Joseph M. Cafferty

Joseph Michael Cafferty, 63, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Genesis Senior Living in Des Moines.

Joseph was born October 31, 1955, in Philadelphia, PA to Bernard and Dolores (Brash) Cafferty, the older of two children. He graduated from Roxborough High School in 1974. Joseph began working at a flea market in Philadelphia after graduation. He married Donna M. Cafferty in 1982 and shortly after they moved to Tempe, AZ where they remained for the next 20 years. Joseph moved to Waterloo, IA in 2009 where he lived for six years prior to coming to Des Moines, IA. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, reading, and watching movies. Joseph enjoyed antiques and bronzing trinkets.

Joseph is survived by his ex-wife, Donna M. Cafferty of Waterloo, IA; son, Patrick Cafferty (Summer Valente) of Waterloo, IA; daughter, Mary Cafferty (Samuel Adkisson) of Waterloo, IA; daughter-in-law, Chandra Keifer of Arizona; sister, Katherine Krebs of Arizona; and his grandchildren, Brenden Yoder, Midian Cafferty, Joseph Cafferty, Ryan Bacon, Tyler Bacon, and McKayla Bacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Dolores Cafferty.

There will be no public services held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to the family in remembrance of Joseph.
