Service Details

Jennie Rita Loffredo Conway, age 87, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2019. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 14, 1931, to James and Anita Loffredo.

She married the love of her life, George Conway from Melrose, Iowa on November 22, 1953. They were blessed with five children. Before she was married, she worked as a secretary for Look Magazine.

Jennie’s mother Anita came from Italy right after the turn of the century. Her father and mother James and Anita Loffredo were the very first couple to be married in St. Anthony Catholic Church on Des Moines’ southside.

Jennie was a very caring and compassionate person, she lived a rich and full life, she had a zest for having fun and a passion for cooking, she loved taking care of everyone around her. As a homemaker she always kept an immaculate house, and because she did not drive was always looking for someone to take her to the grocery store. She found joy playing the nickel slot machines at Prairie Meadows Casino, she loved to travel, but hated to fly. Her life revolved around her children, to whom she instilled strong values and set the example of what could be accomplished in life as a good person, with tenacity, a little wit, some charm, a small smile and always being humble. Jennie cherished her friends and family more than anything else. She greeted everyone she ever met with a warm radiant smile, and most became instant friends. No matter what kind of day you were having you could always count on her smile waiting for you at the end of it, followed by, “you hungry? what can I fix ya?”
She will be missed by all those who knew her, and the ones that loved her whose soul she touched so deeply.

Jennie is survived by her children, J.J. (Michelle), Sheri (Marc) Sirios, Steve (Lori), George and Dan (Karma); eight grandchildren Jaimey, Niko, Matt, Josh, Lance, Katie, Sara, Blake; eight great-grandchildren; Brianna, Brandon, Emily, Michael, Lucas, Titus, Case and Nora; a great-great-grandson; Levi; brother, Joe Loffredo; and her sister, Mary Ann Tiefenthaler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, George Conway; and her sister, Delores Ortega.
