Clarissa Gowans

Mrs. Clarissa Ruth Gowans was born on August 1st, 1950 in Manhattan, New York. The family unit temporarily relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where she attended John F. Kennedy high school. After graduating in 1968, she married Albert Johnson, and they had three children: Cherrone, Charesse, and Albert Jr. The family relocated permanently to Los Angeles, California in 1974, where Clarissa eventually studied to become an Accountant.

During the eighties, Clarissa decided to move in a different direction, and the couple divorced. In 1990, she remarried the love of her life, William Kenneth Gowans, Jr. and they had been married for twenty eight years, before William passed away in April of last year. Clarissa was truly heartbroken after his death, and though she was always full of life and love, the burden of illness, coupled with the loneliness of losing her husband hastened her passing. She leaves behind her three children, and her grandchildren: Dae’jah, D.J. Serenah, Lance, Lauren, Austin, Amber, McKenzie, DeShawn, and Albert III. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends, we mourn the loss of a beautiful soul. Clarissa will truly be missed, and the world a less delightful place without her engaging, refreshing personality. She was the epitome of love.
