James "Jim" Lee Brummond

James ‘Jim’ Lee Brummond, age 65, passed away surrounded by his family following a brief illness in Des Moines, Iowa on February 22, 2019. He was born in Madelia, Minnesota on July 14, 1953 to Carl and Ella Brummond and was the youngest of six children growing up in Truman, Minnesota. He raised his children in Holstein, Iowa, and was a longtime resident of Larrabee, Iowa.
Prior to his retirement, Jim was an employee of the food processing plant in Cherokee, Iowa, where he actively served within the UFCW Local 179 in a multitude of roles on behalf of his fellow employees. He will be remembered for his altruistic and generous kindness to others, his love of cards and games, and his playful humor and mischievous wit.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jameson (Molly) Brummond, Tammy (Eric) Crall, and Amy (Ian) Butcher; his three grandsons, Brooks, Reis, and Logan; his sister, Elaine Redmond; brother, Kenny (Darlene) Brummond; sister-in-law, Roxy Brummond; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Carl Brummond; mother, Ella Brummond; brother, Ernest Brummond; and sisters, Laura Sheppard and Betty Nowak.
A Celebration of Life reception to honor Jim’s life for all his friends and family will be held at the Cherokee VFW, 113 E Maple St., Cherokee, Iowa, on Saturday April 6th, beginning at 1 pm.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to Mercy Hospice, 5820 Winwood Drive, Johnston, Iowa 50131, as the family would like to extend their gratitude for the staff’s attentiveness and loving care.

Very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the Bible at Acts 24:15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Brummond- Im very glad I got to see you that Saturday when you were home. Im going to miss you a lot! Ill never forget your sense of humor and how you always thought your jokes were better than mine! Who do I call now for advice on politics? Lol! I know your not in pain anymore. Your probably with Kevin- and Im sure you guys are arguing over something very random! Youll always be in my heart! I Love ya Brummond!!
