Erma Holtman

Erma Holtman, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Calvin Community. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2008 at Capitol Hill Christian Church with burial at the Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Erma was born June 22, 1924 in Des Moines to Hal and Marie Brown. She graduated from East High School in 1942 and was a member of Capitol Hill Christian Church for 68 years. Erma worked for Iowa Power and Light for a number of years before staying home to raise her family. She enjoyed reading the newspaper every morning, her monthly luncheons with “the girls”, bowling and traveling. But her greatest passion in life was her family: sharing the love of her husband, sisters, children and grandchildren.
Erma is survived by the love of her life, Lyle, her husband of nearly 60 years; sons, Steve (Shelley) Holtman and Jon (Shaela) Holtman; grandchildren, Erin (Derek) Miller, Kyle (Laura) Holtman, Stephanie, Andrea and Ethan Holtman; sisters, Margaret Grandia and Shirley (Larry) Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia Solomon.
