John Peters

John R. Peters, 76, passed away at his home Saturday, December 13, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines. Burial will take place at a later date at the Palo Alto Cemetery in Newton.
John was born June 6, 1932. He worked for Dodds Trash Hauling in Newton for many years. He also enjoyed auto bodywork. John was a member of the Newton Baptist Temple.
John is survived by his sisters, Rozella Kimberlin and Elizabeth Argo; his nephew, Buddy Smithhart, who was his caregiver throughout his illness; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Berniece Comstock; father, William Peters; sister, Violet Smithhart; and brother, George Peters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
