Service Details

Elvin V. Bailey, 77, died at his home Friday, December 12, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Bondurant Federated Church with burial at Franklin Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home.
Elvin was born October 16, 1931 in Des Moines to Enoch and Ruby (Comstock) Bailey. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On September 3, 1955 he married Sonya Rae Wolfe. Elvin farmed all of his life and also worked in research for Pioneer Hybrid for many years. He was a member of Gideon International and Bondurant Federated Church. Elvin loved to hunt, fish and garden.
Elvin is survived by his children, Boyce (Michele) Bailey, Vernon (Tammy) Bailey and Helen (Jon) Anderson; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Bailey, Amanda Bailey, Dawn Bailey, Laura Anderson, Meagan Anderson, Rebecca Anderson, Nichol Patterson, Tiffany Bailey and Jennifer Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Trystin Anderson and Hailey Patterson; and many other extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sonya Rae Wolfe; son, Jonathan Bailey; and second wife, Betty Brass.
