Service Details

Robert (Bob) Davidson passed away December 1, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday December 6th at Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Bob was born June 11, 1924 to Charles H. and Clara Davidson of near Ankeny. He grew up in that area. After graduating from Polk City High School he enlisted in the Navy with his cousin Francis (Bud) Davidson. Bob served as a Navy Gunner on a Cargo Merchant Ship which was part of the Armed Guard. He served 3 years in all areas and was discharged in December 1945. In February 1946 he met Jean M. Morris and they were married December 7, 1946. They were blessed with three sons – Gary, Robert (Bobby) and Greg. Bob was a journeyman union ironworker for 37 years. He took pride in his work and always did it right. He made his house a HOME with his conscientious talents. He was a good and faithful husband and a Dad respected by his son’s and family. His favorite past times were golf, bowling, following Iowa sports, but especially enjoyed his son’s sports activities. He was a private and quiet man with a keen sense of humor.
Bob is survived by his wife Jean; sons Gary (Kathy), Bob (Lori) and Greg (Sherry); his 11 grandchildren; his 4 great grandchildren; his sisters Lucille Wheeler, Maryllin Tollenaar; his brother James (Edna) Davidson, and brother-in-law Raymond (Ruth) Morris. He was preceded in death by his brothers Chuck and Gerald.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Hospice or to Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church.
