Marlene Mae Ferguson, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 5, 2019.
Marlene was born May 27, 1933 to Eldon and Fae Braden Vail in What Cheer, Iowa. She grew up on a farm in Barnes City, Iowa and graduated from Barnes City High School in 1951. Marlene met the love of her life, Darrell Gene Ferguson in high school and they were married September 27, 1951. After Darrell returned from the Korean Conflict, they moved to Des Moines to raise their family.
Marlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved cooking for the family and others. She served the Lord at First Federated Church for 45 years in many capacities. Marlene also worked for various businesses in Des Moines and helped her husband build their own Dairy Queen business in West Des Moines. Marlene shared her faith in Jesus and the Gospel every opportunity and especially with her family. She was a prayer warrior for all.
Those left to remember her are husband Darrell, daughter Candy (Tom) Davey, son Kyle (Deidre) Ferguson, grandchildren Joy Davey, Jill Davey, Jesse Ferguson, Linze Camarillo, greatgrandchildren Stella Rae Davey, Brynlee and Layla Camarillo. She is also survived by step-family Beverly (Burris) Wilson and Max (Mary Ellen) Vail.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Barnes City Cemetery, Barnes City, Iowa.

I was saddened to learn of Marlene's passing. I worked with her in the 70's in Des Moines. She was a prayer warrior and radiated Christanity and her devotion to God. .My condolences and prayers are extended to Darrell and his family.

I am the daughter of Darrells cousin, Ramona Maxine {Mickey] Ferguson Hart. I remember visiting with Darrell and Marlene when my mom lived with me in DesMoines. I send sympathies to you, Darrell, and your family from myself and I know my mom would have been saddened at Marlenes passing.
