Ruby Stevens

Ruby J. Stevens, 79, of Des Moines passed away on November 24, 2008 at Union Park Health Center. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Monday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Ruby was an avid church goer and had been a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed music and loved to sing. She was preceded in death by her Husband Walter Adel Stevens, her daughter Mary Ann Stevens, her parents, 3 sisters and son-in-law Glen Highland. She is survived by her seven children Sylvia (Harold) Conn of Confidence, Iowa, Dwayne (Susan) Stevens of California, Ted (Maiga) Stevens of Des Moines, Ruby Darlene Highland of Des Moines, Dorothy Boyd of Des Moines, John (Joan) Stevens of Carthage, Missouri and Ronald Joe Stevens of Des Moines; eleven grandchildren Marina, Clint, Dusty, Verna Jean, Ben, Chuck, Amy, Jonathan, Marcy, Deborah and Jedediah; eleven great grandchildren Anthony, Jessica, Austin, Felicia, Lindsay, Natasha, Laura, Joshua, Destiny, Anthony and Alexis; one great grandchild Jasmine Rose as well as six siblings Charlie, Calvin and Rex McDaniel, Betty Williams, Flo Grundy and Dana Rogers. Through the greatest pains she suffered with her beautiful smile that always buffered any signs of anger or sadness that she was feeling. We will forever miss that smile that was always so healing.
