Service Details

Harold Jarnagin, 83, passed away November 24, 2008 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Harold was born July 7, 1925 in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship USS New Jersey during WWII. Harold was a truck driver for Iowa Parcel until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Isaac Walton League, Teamsters Union, and a lifetime member of the V.F. W. Harold loved attending the Iowa State Fair, especially people watching, listening to old time music, walking at Southridge Mall, spending time at the Archie Brooks Senior Citizen Center, touring America by bus with his companion, Marvel and spending time with his family.
Harold is survived by his son, Jeff (Lisa) Jarnagin; granddaughter Kristin Jarnagin; step-granddaughter, Brooke Doane; and his loving companion, Marvel Hunter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Greta; his parents, Chester and Mina; brothers, Paul, Claude, Gaylord and Glen; sisters, Dorothy, Opal, Juanita and Evelyn; and many other relatives.
