Service Details

Jack Davis, “gentle”man, tender husband, equal opportunity father (loving biological & step children without rank), funny grandpa and self-proclaimed “king of his house” passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 at his home.
He entered this world on October 2, 1930 and became a source of gladness to all he encountered. He was a painter by trade, a meticulous craftsman, characterized by his paint speckled glasses.
Jack was an accomplished musician and played the guitar in several bands during his life. He loved music of all kinds, but specifically Blues, Jazz and Oldies. There was not a situation that could not be soothed by song. He joked away stressful times with melodies like “Pretend you’re happy when you’re sad”. Primarily though, he was an eternal optimist who cherished and embraced the good times with his engaging sense of humor. He could fill a room with an aura of wit and comedy.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Backstrom and son Jack (Jackie) Anthony Davis. Among the survivors celebrating his life are his beloved wife Peggy; his children Marshelle Fatino, Monique Smith, Serita (Thomas) Reil, Anthony (Kristy) Rivas, Matthew (Tami) Rivas, Paul (Melanie) Rivas, daughter-in-law Pam Ross; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on SW 9th 10:00 am Monday, November 24th with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Jack left this world with a song in his heart. His family and loved ones will carry on with happy memories, cherishing every moment of his presence. He is their hero…
