Jay Johnson

Jay Frederick Johnson, 43, died of cancer November 18, 2008 at Hospice Kavanagh House on 56th. Memorial services will be held 11am Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Jay’s family will greet friends Friday from 4-6pm with a vigil service at 6pm at the church.
Jay was born March 27, 1965 to Larry and Kay Johnson in Des Moines. He was a graduate of Valley High School and was employed by Lakeville Motor Express. He is survived by his wife of 14 years Carolyn; daughters Kimberly and Stephanie at home, Shena Durnin of Portland, OR; son John Bevans of Tampa, FL; brother Jeffrey (Lisa) Johnson of Nokomis, FL; mother Kay of West Des Moines as well as several brothers and sisters-in- law. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews all of whom he loved spending time with. He was a former girls softball coach in South Des Moines and Raccoon Valley and truly enjoyed watching his daughters play softball. Jay’s loves included first of all his family, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Cubs. Jay was preceded in death by his father Larry. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
