Burt Jurgensen

Burt Jurgensen, 65, died Monday, November, 17, 2008 in Perry. Burt was born on August 10, 1943 to Marcus and Catherine Jurgensen.
Burt worked at John Deere Works for 33 years before he retired in 1998. He was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion in the late 1950’s and was a very active pool player for several years. Burt was a big fan of pro football and basketball, mainly the Chicago Bears and the Bulls. He played football for the Des Moines Vikings, when they were active.
Surviving members are his loving wife of 45 years, Donna; son, Curtis Jurgensen of Des Moines, daughters, Dana (Clair) Erickson of South Carolina and Breta (Ray) Jurgensen of Adel; his sister, Janice (Robert) Meek; six grandchildren, Randy, Tyler, Wesley, Jordan, Whitney and Gavin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Frank Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 412 Euclid Ave., burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.
