Robert ‘Red’ Shields, 87, died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Robert was born April 8, 1931 in MN.
Robert was proud to serve his country during the Korean War as a paratrooper. Robert enjoyed his kids, his grandkids and his great grandkids, sitting outdoors and of course watching the Vikings. He collected antique toys which he proudly displayed on the porch. Robert was retired from the Operating Engineer Union Local 234 after 60 years of loyalty and hard work.
Robert is survived by his 6 kids; 8 grandkids and 17 great grandkids.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Betty; his daughter Cyndi; his parents and several siblings.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 3601 E. Court Ave.

So sorry for your loss, Bob was a good neighbor and enjoyed him in our Life and HEART for many years . We will miss Bob around the neighborhood rolling down and around in this electric scooter that was his way of getting around to talk to everyone one of his friends which was many Rest In Pease my friend you will be missed by many.
