Darrell D. Vaughn, Sr.

Darrell Duane Vaughn, Sr. was born July 10, 1925, in Decatur County, Iowa, son of Ottie and Coral (Curry) Vaughn. He passed away January 23, 2019, at The Gardens at Luther Park in Des Moines.

He worked at Bridgestone Tire Company in Des Moines for 33 years and belonged to the UAW Local 310.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War stationed at Aidack Island Alaska, Japan, and Korea.

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; his parents, one brother, Raymond; two sisters, Dorothy Owens and Madelyn Smith; and step grandchildren, Sean and Lisa Brugioni.

He is survived by his sons, Darrell Duane Jr. of Richmond, VA and Steven (Cindy) of Corpus Christi, TX; daughters, Merri Zuber of Altoona, IA, Carolyn (Dennis) Brugioni of Las Vegas, NV and Darrellyn Knight of Des Moines, IA; step daughter, Chrystal Knight of Des Moines, IA and step son, Tracey Ramsey of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Sarah Wertz, Chelsea Zuber, Ryan Brugioni, Mindi Woodward, Richard Vaughn, Kiel Vaughn, and Miles Vaughn; eight great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and eight step great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Smith of Davenport, IA and Laveda (James) Thompson of Stockton, CA; as well as other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
