Kaylah Brandel
January 22, 2019
On January 6, 2009 the world was blessed with the strong, loving, and kind princess, Kaylah Jae Brandel. Her mommy, Angel, couldn’t have been prouder. After reaching double digits, 10 year old Kaylah left this earthly world to join her forever princess party on January 22, 2019.
Kaylah was a 3rd grader at Prairie Trail Elementary School. She loved the movie Frozen, My Little Pony, animals, racing, and everything purple. She was a very strong, independent, free willed little girl who battled a terminal illness for nine years. Kaylah never gave up – even though she was fighting a hard battle, she never let her illness keep her from being happy. Kaylah was so special, and touched so many lives.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Angel (Sara Van Kley) and Jesse Koughn; sister, Jaidyn; grandpa, Clint Van Kley; aunt, Amy (Heith) Jaeschke; cousins, Dakota, Madyson, Emily, and Logan; her therapy dog, Toby; and kitty, Tabby, and many friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Kathleen Kay Van Kley in 2005, rainbow siblings, and other family members.
A royal princess celebration will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2-4pm at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions can be designated to the family.

Kaylah's family,
I never met you, but had a chance to meet Kaylah not to long after moving in to her home at Childserve. She was such a lovely young lady. I loved her giggles and just found it wonderful how she interacted with her staff. She was truly someone special.
My deepest condolences to you and your family.
