Helen Dodd

Helen E. Dodd, 81, passed away January 21, 2019, in Des Moines. She was born June 14, 1937, in Valeria, Iowa, to Clifford and Beulah Gerhart.
Helen worked various jobs over the years; working in retail at a bridal shop and as a florist. She enjoyed crafting, watching the wonders of nature, and was a talented seamstress. Above all else, she cherished her family and their time spent together.
Helen attended Heritage Word of Life Church in Mitchellville and Prairie City Christian Church.
Helen is survived by her son, Terry (Sheila) Dodd; daughter, Tami (David) Jones; grandchildren, Christopher and Ashley; sister, Delores (Ronnie) Robinett; brother, Ken (Karen) Gerhart, as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin Dodd; her parents, and brothers, Charles Gerhart and Jim Gerhart.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Prairie City Christian Church, 207 W. 5th St, Prairie City, IA. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 70904 315th St, Collins, IA.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Prairie City Christian Church, Heritage Word of Life Church, or Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Auxiliary in loving memory of Helen.

Helen you were a special person. You helped me with the food bank and the clothes room at Heritage word of life church. You also would bring toys to my granddaughter you will always have a special place in my heart.

Helen (Pinkie) and her family lived across the street from my family when I was growing up. I spent a lot of time in their home, baby sitting Tami and Terry. I'm praying for comfort for the entire family. She was a wonderful, and kind person.
