JoAnn, 66, passed away on January 19, 2019, at her home in Des Moines. She was born September 29, 1952, in Des Moines, to Fred and Helen Hively.
She retired from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy after 40 years of service with the State of Iowa. JoAnn loved dancing and music; anything from rock & roll, country, to ballroom dancing. She also loved spending time with her family.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Scott Roaden; grandchildren, Britney and Jeffrey Roaden; great-grandchildren, Carter and Isaiah; her sister, Bonnie Wilson of Omaha, and niece, Margie White of Omaha.
Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of JoAnn.

Scotty so sorry to here about mom! Just know she will always dancing free now with now pain. She will always be right over your shoulder watching over you and Jeffery and Britt and the Great Grand Kids. She Loved Ya'll very much. Im here if you need me!!!

It was a privilege getting to know JoAnn and working with her for so many years. I loved her bus stories and her positive attitude. She loved people and was so personable with all who came in contact with her. She had a great sense of humor and will be sorely missed by all who have known her. My sympathies to the family over your loss.

I have grown to love you JoAnn and although I already miss you I am aware your spirit is free and will be the light in our path. Your son grandkids and those who have grown so fond of you...we sure are going to miss you. Until we meet again beautiful mama. God Bless
