James Allen Burke
January 19, 2019
James Allen Burke, 69, passed away January 19, 2019. Services will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation prior from 3 to 4 p.m.
Jim was born August 6, 1949 in Des Moines, IA to Mary (Nichols) and William Burke. One might say Jim was a car buff. He worked for his father at West End Auto Body for nearly 10 years until it was sold in 1976. At that time, Jim and his father purchased Roy’s Motor Service which he ran until his retirement in 2012. Jim owned several classic cars, but his favorite was Blue Velvet, a ’49 Ford convertible. He also attended various car shows around Des Moines. Jim was a hard-working man who loved his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and caring for his dogs.
He will be greatly missed by his sister, Shelly (Mark) Wood; his children, Scott (Tanya) Burke, Jesse (Samantha) Burke, Billie Jo (Dustin) Paup, and Katelyn (William) Hoeppner; grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Colby, Ruby, Michael, William, Aden, Abigail, and Hunter; his nephews, Michael and Matthew Wood; and extended family members in Kentucky. The family sends a huge thank you to Roy’s Boys and Gals.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; his parents and grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I am so sorry to hear that Jimmy passed. We had a lot of fun together. He had a 3 wheeler and he would pick me up and we headed to the Indaolia balloon races. So many good memories. He had a very big heart. You will be truly missed.

My love and sincerity is with the family and close friends during this heart breaking time, I had the luxury of careing for Jim back in 2017 early 2018 and his laugh is something none forgets, his humor was one of a kind, and his heart was big enough for the world. He loved our care staff just as much as we loved him, May he rest in peace knowing he's impacted and touched so many lives in a positive way.
