George Clark, 70, of Des Moines, IA passed away January 17, 2019 at his home.
George was born January 26, 1948 in Des Moines, IA to Hubert and Aurliene (Crossland) Clark. After graduating from Lincoln High School, George began his accomplished bowling career and coached Little League for Fort Des Moines. In 1974 George went on to open George Clark’s Pro Shop. George is known for being a legendary bowler. He was a past president of the Des Moines Bowling Association. George was inducted into the Des Moines Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1983 and in 2002 he was inducted into the Iowa State Bowling Association Hall of Fame. After 40 years as a rural postal carrier George retired from the United States Postal Service in 2016. Throughout his life and into his retirement he enjoyed coaching, golfing, and trips to Las Vegas. But above all his greatest joy and loves of his life were his wife, kids, and grandbabies.
George is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Becky; son, Todd Clark; daughters, Mindy (Eddie) Mrowka, and Michelle Clark; grandchildren, Aleksandra, Edward, and Edison; sister, Sandra (Danny) Cornelius; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Chad.
A visitation for George will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hamiltons’ Southtown Funeral Home 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery.

We love George, he was a great friend and funny to be around. George fought Cancer hard! Now it's time to rest. Becky, we are here for you, words can't take away your pain, but please know were thinking of you. Mindy, Michelle, and Todd we're so very sorry for your dad's passing. George and I go way back, from sharing an apartment to bowling. We made lots of memories!!! I hated when I heard he was not well, but he is at peace now. Continued prayers for Becky and family.
