January 16, 2019
Gary Johnson, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on January 16, 2019. Memorial services will take place on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
Gary was born in Hampton, IA to Elvin “Bud” and Otella Johnson. He was a farmer and seed salesman for many years. He worked at Seabee’s Corporation in Hampton and Cargill in Mason City. After retiring, Gary moved to Des Moines to be closer to his family.
Gary loved life! He was a loyal Hawkeye fan, an avid bowler and enjoyed watching sports all the time. He was a frequent traveler and he especially enjoyed taking family vacations. He loved all kinds of music, attending concerts and drinking his Diet Coke. A frequent member of the “Bradley’s Social Club”, no one loved a good joke or story more than Gary. Most of all, he was very proud of his family!
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Stacy (Chad) Terrill, Kelly (Chad) Friesleben, and Brock (Alli) Johnson; grandchildren, Mica, Harrison and Alyssa Terrill, Caitlyn and Nicholas Friesleben, and Evan and Emilia Johnson; great-grandchild, Isaiah Terrill; sisters, Dianne (Rick) Davis and Janis Johnson; nephew, Matt (Sara) Davis; and great-nephew, Colin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jondalyn; parents; and daughter, Sarah.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

This is so sad. Several of us, who are classmates of Gary, have been organizing our 50th reunion for September 2019. Gary was at most of the reunions in the past and feel confident he would have been to the one in September. He will be missed. You have my condolences.
