Mr. Harry Lucian Bailey, the son of Lucian Hiram Bailey (Pops) and Phyllis R. Brown was born November 30, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa and departed this life on January 1, 2007, at Mercy Hospital, in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of forty-eight years.
Preceding Harry in death were his father Lucian Bailey, his sister Darlene Avant and two brothers, George Haynes Jr. and Johnnie Brown Jr.
Harry received his formal education in the Des Moines Public School system. He joined New Bethany C.O.G.I.C. at an early age under the Pastorage of Elder Andrew Johnson Sr.
He had many vocations; Harry started out his employment at Younkers and traveled the country as the Sound man for the Split Decision Band. Following his time with the band Harry was employed as a sales person and later as a cook from which he retired.
Harry’s hobbies were spending time with his family and friends, shooting pool and watching football. His favorite NFL team was the KC Chiefs. Harry was a man who reached out to help many in his family and his friends. He was a wonderful fun loving person who lived his life to the fullest and he will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother Phyllis R. Brown of Des Moines, Iowa; his dear Aunt Ms. Leona M. Burnett of Mississippi; three sisters, Rose Campbell, Marlene Hall-Carter, and Norma Jean Carter all of Des Moines; his brother Wendell of Des Moines; his nieces Diyonda Avant and Darlene (Jessie III) Value, Rita Hall and Johnnita Hall, Sharon Haynes and Dawn Campbell; his nephews Troy Campbell and John Hall III; and a host of Uncles, Aunts, great nephews and nieces, other relatives, numerous friends and associates.
