Wendell Swinton

Wendell A. Swinton, 76, of Des Moines died on January 1, 2007 at the Hospice Kavanagh on 56th. Wendell was a customer service manager with the Chicago/Northwestern Railroad, was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church. He loved gardening and also enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Des Moines; his children Donna Bachman of Boise, Idaho, Bruce and his partner Peter Dibrito of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Randall of Hartford, Iowa, Richard and his wife Denise of Des Moines, Debra Serpico and her husband Benny of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Denise Serpico and her husband Ralph also of Wilkes-Barre and Michelle White and her husband Todd of Maxwell, Iowa; his brother Glenn and his wife Lynette of Marble Rock, Iowa; his sister Ellen Ullom and her husband Charles of Louisville, Kentucky as well as 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Alice and his brothers John and Lee.
The family will greet friends from 4-7 PM on Sunday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 8th at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 4700 SW 14th Street. Cremation will follow services.
