Jackie (Lucas) Stookey, 68, died Sunday, November 9, 2008 of cancer at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens on Wednesday , November 12, 2008 at 10 am with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the funeral home.
Jackie was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Des Moines Technical High School and lived in the Des Moines area most of her life until she and her husband retired and moved to Ankeny. She worked at Acoustical Specialties, Inc. and the Des Moines Police Academy. Her hobbies were shopping, home decorating and wintering in Arizona.
Jackie is survived by her two children, Jeff (Nelia) of Huntingtown, MD and Vicki of Altoona, two grandchildren, Jeff Jr. (Melinda) of St. Ann, Missouri and Kaitlin Gazzo of Altoona, her mother, Maryetta Lucas, brother, Doug (Patsy) Lucas of Ankeny, her brother-in-law, Fred (Belinda) Stookey of Patterson, 2 nieces Melissa Edgar and Kris Stookey, 6 great nieces and nephew and one great great niece.
She was preceded in death by Marvin, her husband of 47 years, her son, Steven, her father, Ray Lucas and her great nephew, Lucas Ramquist.
Memorials may be given in her memory to First Church of Christ Vision Fund, 310 NW Ash, Ankeny, Iowa 50023.

I wanted to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your mothers passing, our family will never forget all she did for us when we lived next door to her on Creston, My mother didn't drive and your mother would pack all of us kids up and take my mother to the store every week and doctors appt's.
