Karen Allbee

Karen Waynette (Cummins) Allbee died December 31, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Peru Cemetery in East Peru, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Karen was born October 31, 1949 to Wayne & Ethyle Cummins in Corydon, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Russell and graduated from Russell Community High School in 1967. She is also a graduate of Drake University. She married David Allbee after his tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force and the couple became the parents of Heather and Heidi. Karen was a teacher with the Des Moines Public Schools for many years, most recently at Hoyt Middle School. The loves of her life were her family, her faith and her many friends.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Heather Allbee and Heidi (John) Suter; mother, Ethyle Cummins; sister, Sharon (Jim) Reynolds; nephew, Mike (Laura) Amos; niece, Amanda Reynolds and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Cummins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in order to establish a fund to support Student Leadership Training at Hoyt Middle School.
