Carol Steffen

Carol Jean Steffen, 64, passed away following a very courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Carol was born May 19, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Gladys Wells. Carol married Jerry R. Steffen on August 18, 1961 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
She lived in Dixon, Iowa for 21 years and was co-owner of Dixon Implement. Carol moved to the Des Moines area in 1990 and retired from Southeast Polk Community School District in 2006. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading and playing cards. Her greatest love was spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She will be extremely missed by her family and dear friends.
Carol is survived by her husband; her parents; daughter, Kim (Julio) Serrano of Eldridge, IA; sons, Greg (Lynn) Steffen of Johnston and Todd (Clara) Steffen of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Danielle Simoni, Garrett and Taylor Steffen; sister Shirley (Dan) Krueger; and brothers, Weldon (Pam) and Brian (Michelle) Wells. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeffrey.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines, IA and from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, IA. A private graveside service will be held at Durant Cemetery.
