Margaret Ward, 96, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on October 19, 1912 to Maggie and William Hayes in Runnells Iowa.
Margaret enjoyed sewing, gardening and if given the chance, carpentry. She was also known for holding the title of being the longest and oldest member of the Mitchellville First Christian Church, where she especially enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Betty (Leslie) Jean White and Margaret (Irving) Joan Tiffany; her son, Lanny (Beverly) Verl Ward; her sister, Grace Marain and Blanche Gulling; 8 grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vinton Ward; her parents; 4 brothers; two sisters, and one grandson.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Mitchellville First Christian Church, 210 3rd St. NW in Mitchellville, burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Ave. S. in Mitchellville IA.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Mitchellville First Christian Church.
