Service Details
Howard Farr, 79, died Monday, October 27, 2008. He was born on June 11, 1929. Howard served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He enjoyed the Shrine, his family, fishing and golf.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Vick Neumann; granddaughters, Kristen Charlson and Kerri Jacobson and great-granddaughter, Ayden; also, his fiancée, Vicki Moore, her daughters, Lori Miller, Tracie Downey, Genea Moore and Kenda Moore.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to service time.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Howard.

Howard will be missed by many. I got the pleasure of knowing Howard as we worked together at Des Moines Public Schools. As you are aware you have to have patiences of steel to be able to drive a school bus. Howard and I used to "gossip" about life in general. He was the kind of person who enjoyed seeing people smile, he had some good jokes too. When we would have our conversations he talked alot about his family is father and about some land he owned on the southside of town. I think everytime I ran into Howard he was eating chicken. He truly was a very nice man and I concerned him a friend. He always tried to bring out the best in people. I will pray that you can "gossip" about Howard and how he made people feel happy just being around.
May your sorrow be joys of remembering such a "great soul."

So sorry for your loss.
For those of us that knew Howard, we are honored. Howard had a way of making those around him feel cheerful and better about themselves. I am blessed to have known Howard.
Nick and Lori - I thank you guys for allowing me to be a part of your circle, otherwise I may never have met one of Gods better works.
Howard will be missed.

Vicki: My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I didn't get to know Howard very well but I could tell he was a good man and he was good to you and your girls, so that makes him a #10 in my book. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral but just read in yesterdays Des Moines Register this morning that it was today at 11:00 am.

We just wanted to let the family know we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Howard is a great man who was quick to tell a joke or be there for you when you needed him. I enjoyed the fishing trips especially when he gave us tickets for beer. He will always take up a big spot in your heart.
