Harold "Josh" Dean Van Tassel III

Harold “Josh” Dean Van Tassel III AKA “Dizzel”, 35, passed away peacefully surround by his family on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born on November 18, 1983 in Des Moines, Iowa to Dianna Van Tassel and Harold Dean Van Tassel, Jr. He was a wonderful cook and great doting and loving father, son, brother, uncle, friend, nephew and cousin. If you were his friend, you were his family. He loved to make people laugh when they were down and was a notorious jokester. He enjoyed fishing, camping, the Dallas Cowboys, cookouts and spending time with family and four wheeling.

Josh is survived by his three beautiful daughters, Lilyan, Hailey and Kaylynn; their loving mother, Heather Neel; his mother, Dianna Van Tassel and his father, Harold Dean (Mary) Van Tassel, Jr. His loving sister, Brandy (Mike) Ritchie; his nephew, Ronnie Bates, Jr. AKA “Lil Man”. A number of uncles and aunties; cousin and adopted brothers, Paul and Will; and very close friends and his special uncle, Jody (Kristina) Firestine and whole Firestine Family; and a number of step-siblings.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Anna Selby; maternal grandfather, Emery Rustan; and his paternal grandmother, Roberta Joyce Brooks; paternal grandfather, Harold Dean Van Tassel, Sr.; and several aunts, uncles and a cousin.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 700 Sandahl Ave., Des Moines, IA 50315 where we will share memories.
