Margaret Phipps
January 04, 2019
Margaret E. Phipps, 80, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Mercy Hospice-Johnston after a long, courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. She was born December 31, 1938 to Wesley and Jennie (McNeley) Breeding in Des Moines.
Margaret had the joy of staying home with her children and being active in their lives as they grew. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and fishing. More recently, Margaret was an avid thrift store shopper, knowing when the new inventory would arrive and getting to know the employees. She had a wonderful sense of humor all the way to the end and received her greatest joy from spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her children, David Phipps, Valarie and Mark Johnson, and Kimberly Phipps; grandchildren, Jami Olsen, Crystal Phipps, Kristina and Stephen Hunt, Jeremiah Johnson, Justin and Victoria Hyde, and Becca and Cody Ludlow; great-grandchildren, Devin, Tegan, Jackson, Jordan, Sydnee, Lyric, Ariana, and Willow; loving dog, Sassy; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Phipps; and brother, Verlyn Breeding.
A celebration of her life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

My condolences to the family. This is a very difficult time for you. Death is an enemy to us all. GOD's word can give you comfort and strength. GOD promises a resurrection of the dead. (Acts 24:15). We will see our loved ones live again on a paradise earth, where death and pain will be no more. (Rev.21:3-5; Psalms 37:11,29. For more comfort from GOD's word, go to jw.org.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We will not be able to make it as we are holed up in Madrid, Iowa living at the the Madrid Home as Kenny has been diagnosed with dementia and we go no where except for groceries. We will be thinking of you and wishing the best for all of you.

Kim and family - As I have said before when I was over talking with your Mom, I can't remember what we all talked about - but I remember how easy, kind & funny she was to talk too. And yes, she had me laughing! Y'all are in my prayers, not just for the coming days, but for the weeks to come. Sassy, will need extra loving. As she misses her Mom also. I won't be able to make it Thursday, but I sure will be thinking of everyone. God Bless y'all.
