Daniel Carroll

Daniel Leo Carroll, 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, December 31, 2018.

Dan served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and upon his return graduated from Iowa State University and loved following the Cyclones. He was intelligent, creative and opinionated but his greatest pride and love was his four sons.

Dan is survived by his sons, Matthew J. Carroll of Des Moines, Todd D. Carroll (Jennifer) of Seattle, Washington, John J. Carroll of Des Moines, and Ryan T. Carroll of Des Moines; his granddaughters, Grace Carroll and Anna Lee Carroll of Seattle, Washington; former spouse, Angela Carroll of Ankeny, mother, Glada Carroll of Des Moines; brothers, Phil Carroll of Carlsbad, California and Tim Carroll of Valrico, Florida; and sister, Rita Dawson of Woodward, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father and sisters, Beverly Campbell and Linda Day of Des Moines.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive in Adel. A gathering of friends and family will follow burial at the Veterans Reception Center, 910 Main Street in Van Meter.
