December 29, 2018
Donna Louise (Lorentzen) Latessa, 75, passed away December 29, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Donna was born July 17, 1943, in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Donna was an avid baseball fan, faithfully cheering on the Chicago and Iowa Cubs teams. She always looked forward to her yearly trips to the Iowa State Fair. She was very family-centered, especially enjoying outings to the zoo with her grandkids. Donna was also very proud to work for the Democratic Party, from which she retired. She was a generous, stubborn woman with a huge heart, and she will be greatly missed.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Eric) Zepeda, and their children, Elizabeth, Bailey and Reidar and great-grandchildren, Faelynn and Bote; her son, Michael and his daughters, Emily and Abigail; and sister, Mrs. Diane Collett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Winifred (Cavanagh) Lorentzen; and sister, Mrs. Doreen (William) Smith.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Des Moines Performing Arts in loving memory of Donna.

Donna was kick butt. She and I worked together at a non-profit, and then through the democratic party. She was unlikely to take your guff - no matter who you were. On the other hand, if you had good intentions, she would guide you and offer patience. Oh, and she was funny. A great loss. My condolences to her family and friends.

I remember Donna back in the days of Harkin campaigns when we had an amazing group of women helping and we called them- the Donnas -as two were named Donna. She was tireless in her work and support of Tom. I enjoyed seeing her in the years following that at the IDP. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. Sending you love and light as you remember Donna.

I could not have asked for a better grandmother for my girls. Her love for her grandchildren was undeniable and a gift I am grateful they had as long as they did. She will be remembered and talked about often in our home and always with a smile. My condolences to the rest of her family.

I just heard of your mom's passing from a mutual friend at dialysis. I am so sorry. I have many good memories of the times she and I spent together.
