Robert H. Bruinekool

Robert H. Bruinekool passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born January 26, 1937 to Pete and Bernice Bruinekool in Knoxville, Iowa. Bob attended Knoxville High School where he lettered in multiple sports including being a part of the 1954 Hall of Fame football team. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated from Drake University with a BS in Business. He spent 35 years as a sales rep for Dial Corporation.
Bob was an avid outdoors man who loved spending summers at his Clear Lake cabin, where he would fish for hours on end if he wasn’t teaching his sons how to waterski. In the winter, he enjoyed deer hunting with his special group of friends. Bob loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and was a football season ticket holder for many years.
Bob was a long time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines. He looked forward to coffee with his Mercy fitness buddies and his monthly lunches with his GMA friends.
Bob married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Kline in 1957. They enjoyed over 62 wonderful years together. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Maxine; sons, Chris and Matthew (Sandra), and his grandsons, Alex and Tyler, all of West Des Moines; sister-in-law, Jo (Lonny) Milligan of Washington, IA; cousin, Susan (Robert) Holdworth of Pella, as well as several cousins; and his beloved cocker spaniel, Betsy.
Family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 12th and Grand in West Des Moines on Thursday, January 3 at 10:00 a.m. A private burial service will be held Thursday afternoon.

My condolences to the family. This is a very difficult time for you. Death is an enemy to us all. It causes such great pain. We can receive strength and hope from GOD's word.
