Dennis R. Hockett

Dennis R. Hockett, 59, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 24, 2018.

Dennis was born January 9, 1959 to Charles & Leatha Hockett.

He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1977 where he was the captain of the football team. Dennis was known for helping people that were down on their luck. He was a kind hearted and loving, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Hockett; children, Lucas (Sarah) Hockett and Sadie (Jason) Bruce; step-daughter, Janus (Ryan) Mullin; grandchildren, Lane Hockett, Cru Hockett, Sloane Hockett, Grace Hockett, Abbie Bruce, Jaxson Bruce, Wyatt O’Dell, Carter Wilson and Maicee O’Dell; mother, Leatha Hockett; brother, David Hockett; sister, Debra (Brian) Hockett-Clark; half-sister, Patty (Doug) Hughes; nephews and nieces, Robert (Brooke), Brently and Bodie Hockett, Caleb, David, and Lily Clark and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Hockett.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, December 31, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
