Albert "Al" Burns

On Saturday, December 22, 2018, Albert Burns, 79 of Grimes passed away at Mercy Medical Center. Albert was born to Curtis and Janice Johnson Burns on July 23, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Al graduated from North High School in 1958. He spent 24 years running the shop at Sears, five years driving semi, and was the night manager for Integra Service Corp for 18 years until his retirement. He loved duck hunting, was an avid fisherman, and on the weekends you could find him boot scootin where ever country music was played.

Al was a family man. He married his best friend and wife on June 21, 1986. He loved his girls, nieces, nephews, and all of his family. He enjoyed spending time with them, and always, the more the merrier! It was easy to know he had a heart of gold.


Albert is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marylin; daughters, Colleen (Larry) McQuiston, Angie Heitman, and Tiffany Burns; grandchildren, David, Carly, and Tobias; his sister Beverly Ross; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.


He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Hazel; and sister, Karma Dyke.


A graveside service will be held at noon, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to that at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in memory of Al.
