Billy Dean Wood

Billy Dean Wood, 83, passed away at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by his loving family on December 20, 2018. Private services will be held at a later date.

Billy was born October 28, 1935 in Picher, Oklahoma to Dolores (Metcalf) and Alvin Wood. He graduated from Cuba City High School in 1954 and the Pittsburg State Teachers College. Teachers were in high demand at that time and Senator Hickenlooper released Billy from his military duty in the Army to work as a teacher. He taught Industrial Arts and coached as well.

He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Perry, IA, the Jaycees in Keokuk, IA, and Lutheran Church of Hope.

Billy was a fun, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Janie Wood; his children, Mark (Sarah) Wood, Marsha Martinez, Malinda (Brent) Wheeler; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dick Wood.
