Donald Lee Harlan, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Don was born February 2, 1937 in Princeton, MO to LeRoy and Imogene Harlan. He was employed with Firestone for over 27 years. Family and friends were everything to Don. He adored his grandchildren and cherished his time spent with his children, brothers, aunt and uncles, and all of his family and friends. Don was a golf enthusiast, playing his final 18 holes in June of 2018. He enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and socializing with friends. His hobbies included playing cards and games, classic cars, and working in his yard. He was a jack of all trades who could fix or build anything. He was a talented handyman and enjoyed building projects with his brothers.
He is survived by; children, Brad Harlan (Martha) and Delinda Taylor (Rob); grandchildren, Andrea, Matthew, Corbin and Carlee (Jordan); brothers, Richard Harlan (Harriett) and Larry Harlan (Lisa); and many extended family and countless friends.
Don’s wife Eloise Harlan passed away on January 30, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Imogene Harlan and his sister, Carolyn Richardson (Jim).
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Terrace Hills Golf Course, 8700 NE 46th Ave, Altoona, IA 50009.

Knew Don as a neighbor and fellow golfer and knew him as a fine man.I also worked at Firestone.

My dad lnew don for a long time. He will be miss he was a very great man i loved him dearly my mom knew don. He was amazing man. We loved don very much from the carlson family

I hadn't been on FB for a couple of days. Living in Cali all these years, I have such fond memories when he visited my brother, Garold. He will be missed. Hugs and prayers to his family.
