Lisa A. Wilson

Lisa Ann (Metz) Wilson, 60, died Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 30, 1957 to Edward and Helen (Schaffer) Metz in Iowa City.
Lisa grew up in the Onslow area and graduated from the Midland High School. She married the love of her life, David Wilson, October 4, 1980 and shortly after moved to the Des Moines area. Most recently, Lisa worked at Casey’s General Store by Menard’s in Altoona. Prior to that, she worked at Goodwill for several years.
Lisa had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed watching scary movies. She spent many hours tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, paying close attention to her beloved roses. Lisa was an avid motorcyclist and took many road trips with David.
Lisa is survived by her children, Jason (Hilary Higuera) Wilson and Melissa (Larry Woods) Moore; nine grandchildren; mother, Helen Metz; four brothers; two sisters; best friend, Catherine Wheeler; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; David; and father, Ed.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery.
