Josephine Cardamon

Josephine Cardamon, 88, died Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The family will greet friends on Friday, October 24th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Josephine was born December 14, 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked at Mid-American Energy and the Des Moines Public Schools food service. After graduating from Lincoln High School, she took advanced courses and dabbled in poetry. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Anthony’s Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters, and the American Legion.
Josephine is survived by her sons Michael J. Cardamon of Des Moines and John J. Cardamon of Dallas, Texas; her daughters Margaret A. Adams of Aurora, Colorado, Angela M. Carroll of Ankeny, Iowa and Roseann Cady (David) of North Richland Hills, Texas; a sister Ascension Vito of Des Moines, a brother John D. Nicolino (Phyllis) of Des Moines and a sister-in-law Sarah Nicolino; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents Joseph and Rosina Nicolino; her brothers Sam and Cosimo Nicolino; and her sister Catherine (Nicolino) Costanzo.
