Roy “Gene” Vaughn, 89, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Roy was born October 11, 1919 in Des Moines to Ray and Frances (Tarr) Vaughn. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Roy had worked for Gladstone Optical Company. He was an avid fisherman and bowler, bowling with the Roy Stanley Bowling League.
Roy is survived by his children, Carol Guyer and Ronald Vaughn; seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lena; son, Gerald; and sisters, Julie Stanley and Virginia Martineau.

Roy was such a great guy!! One of my favorite things to do was torment him at bowling as he loved nothing better than a good bit of fun. He would have been throwing that bowling ball still, if he could. Roy will be missed by many!!!
